I began making these digital drawings during a period of a few days when my mental health was compromised along with my physical abilities due to a medical intervention. I found freedom in expressing myself without tiring my voice or body in that moment of intense fatigue.
Subconsciously inspired by Matisse's Cutouts, these digital drawings became a place where I explored my ideas regarding "The Jungle inside the Lion" or the inner world of animals/ plants shown in an inside-out form. Depictions of flowers and different forms of animals, these drawings refer to the separation of body and mind/spirit.
The outer form we take (our vessels) and the inner world we carry inside us (our spirits) are investigated in these playful drawings.
The drawings were continued and expanded on during the fall of 2021.
