Instructions/ How To Play

"All items used in this piece come from my collection of found/used objects. The box is a Gameboy Container box. The only manipulated objects are the cards, which I made line drawings of torsos on. All else is found as is.

4 people. Box of round objects and miscellaneous objects. 4 different surfaces. 2 sets of cards.

One set defines the number of  round objects to use from the box. The second set defines which surface is yours. You can take 1 object from the misc section. Make a portrait."

Inspired by the dada movement and fluxus kits, this interactive piece "Make A Portrait" is designed to engage the public/ the viewer into taking part in the realization of the piece.

The piece invites the viewer into a space where there are limited options but a specific task to fulfill, thereby creating a moment where being creative and partaking in an art piece becomes like a game, and about the process rather than the result itself. The line between artist and the art piece is blurred and the "untouchable" feeling of "artworks" becomes softened.

Not only about accessibility, but also about the idea of play and inviting your inner child to come and try something new, this performative structure is relevant and I believe needed in this digital age. Tactility, play, communication and making are what brings us closer to ourselves and one another.
