ROSALIE ALEKSANDRA ANTER

The work explores the meaning behind the continuous mark making, mostly paying attention to shape, color and line.
My history has been cathartic in the way I have experienced annual cycles where the wall between the conscious self and the subconscious dissolves; an actual tearing of the wall causes for a completely loose and unhinged version of self without my own choice. The work I explore usually dives into the subconscious and finds way to reach messages from deep within.
The work is about the human fight to be, to feel, and to release.
Sometimes hidden in a language created through years of repetition and sometimes through more direct and naked imagery that come from my dreams, the work is essentially a portrait of a human's, a young woman's, state of aloneness and tenderness in response to the stimulation and events of the outer world. Almost like the penetration of a tree by outer forces and how the tree responds to the strokes or happenings around it, I respond to the world through my pieces.
The goal is to find ways to be as real and naked as I can be and also create a space where my work is accessible to all levels of human intellect and knowledge, merely to be understood and to share the difficulty in being human.
The varying struggles in society all have a similar point of connection, like leaving past scars behind or letting go of suppressed emotions. I want to show that although one may feel completely alone in the way they experience the world, there are others like them who share their struggle of being too tender and too exposed to the strokes.
